Who is Alain Kouck?

Alain Kouck started his career in the industry before joining Hachette group in 1980 as a Management Assistant in the Book Distribution branch. He then held various positions including, from 1986 to 1996, Managing Director of the Industries and Services branch. In 1996, he became Deputy Managing Director in charge of Press and Books commercial and industrial activities at CEP Communication. In 1997, he became Chairman of Havas Services and in January 1998 he was appointed Deputy CEO of Havas Publications Edition in charge of commercial and industrial activities. In May 1998, when Havas merged with Compagnie Générale des Eaux (which became Vivendi), he was appointed Deputy Director of Havas industrial and commercial business.

In September 2001, he became Deputy Director of Vivendi Universal Publishing (later Editis), in charge of global operations. In May 2002, he was also appointed Executive Vice-President for Logistics, Manufacturing and Purchases at Vivendi Universal.

Since December 2002, Alain Kouck has been Chairman and CEO of Editis group. Previously held by the French group Wendel, Editis was acquired in 2008 by the Spanish group Planeta.

Alain Kouck is a member of the Board of the National Union of Publishing (Syndicat National de l’Edition) and a member of the Board of Bookstore Circle (Cercle de Librarie). From October 2010 to October 2012, he was Vice-President of the International Publishers Association. He is also a Chevalier of the Légion d’Honneur.

Alain Kouck is a member of the Board of the Forum d'Avignon since its creation.
