WHO IS … Caroline Champion ?

Caroline Champion is a flavors explorer ®: transverse profession approaching the taste by various ways, to converge research, art and culinary practice.

As a researcher in aesthetic philosophy, specializing in the field of taste, she is the author of Hors d'œuvre, Essay on the relationship between arts and kitchen, published by Menu Fretin (2010). She also makes conferences (in art, design and fashion schools, universities and companies) and intervenes various medias (from Beaux-Arts Magazine to the Wall Street Journal, France Culture, L'Expansion or Cuisine TV).

As an artist in the service of the "creative jubilation ", she realizes performances and installations called " ExpérimenTables " in Paris (Châtelet Theater, Louvre Courtyard, Subway lines 6, etc), Brussels (Gallery Elaine Levy Project) and Barcelona (Galeria Alegria).

As a food consultant, she is head of Convergences Culinaires, consulting agency dedicated to gastronomic restaurants, fine groceries and food luxury brands. Previously, she worked as a cook for Alain Passard (L'Arpège ***) and as a product manager for Fauchon (Research and Development).


Partner of the 2012 edition of the Forum d’Avignon, Caroline recently conceived a cocktail-performance at the Théâtre du Châtelet, “Paris, the taste of time” on the occasion of the projection of the project “Paris, ville à remonter le temps” by 3DS. An original scenography invited the participants to savor the history of Paris through different recipes, from 1200 to today: from the hot pâté, spicy beef cheeks (1392) to the chocolate fondant (1980) via the fish profiterole (1656) … The flavors became the support of a sensitive walk in the strata of the capital’s history.

The human beings and their infinite resources (which have proved themselves for thousands of years!), the jubilation that results from creation when it comes to decompartmentalize the implicit barriers in which we live and the taste as field of infinite exploration!
