WHO IS … Olivier Poivre d’Arvor ?

After a degree of philosophy, Olivier Poivre d’Arvor held the position of literary advisor in different publishing houses (Albin Michel, Balland), journalist, founder of the weekly newspaper TEL and of a theater company. Laureate of a scholarship  Villa Médicis (United States, 1987), he held several positions in the French cultural network abroad: director of the French cultural center of Alexandria (1988-1990), he successively re opened the French Institute of Prag (1990-1994) and managed the French Institute of United Kingdom  and was cultural advisor for the French Embassy in London (1994-1999). From February 1999, he managed the French association of artistic action, ministry of foreign affairs, culture and communication, which became Culturesfrance in 2006. In 2007, he joined the ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 2005, he produced in Toulouse the first edition of the Marathon des mots, a festival around the speech and the text, which is now the second most frequented literary festival. Writer and essayist, Olivier Poivre D’Arvor published several books. His last book, Culture, état d’urgence (Culture, state of emergency) has been published by the editions Tchou in 2012. He is, since September 2010, Director of the public radio station France Culture.
