WHO IS … Kohei Nishiyama ?

Kohei Nishiyama is Chairman of elephant design co., ltd. He founded CUUSOO.com.
The social platform CUUSOO.com serves over 130,000 consumers by allowing them to record their needs and wishes. CUUSOO.com then develops products and services to cater to those needs. To date, CUUSOO.com has launched 60 products, and the CUUSOO system is used in brands such as Muji, Tokyo Electric Power Company, and Lego. Kohei has previously worked at McKinsey and was nominated as a Young Global Leader in 2007 by the World Economic Forum, as well as one of the ‘100 Most Creative People’ by Fast Company in 2009.

Kohei is also appointed as a member of International Selection Committee for the 2014 designation of World Design Capital (WDC), as well as a Fellow of The Royal Society for the Encouragement of the Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA) and a Member of the Board of International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID), Montreal. In 2012, he was appointed as Executive Director of Japan Institute of Design Promotion and is a member of Japan Industrial Designers’ Association.

He is currently advising the Danish government to build the world’s first public user innovation platform, JOIN.dk, and he was nominated as an Asia Society Asia 21 Fellow, Class of 2012.

He teaches at Tama Art University and Kuwasawa Design Institute.

He holds BA from the University of Tokyo and majored in product design at the Kuwasawa Design Institute.
