WHO IS … Tishani Doshi ?

Tishani Doshi is a writer and dancer of Welsh-Gujarati origin. Her first book of poems, Countries of the Body, won the Forward Poetry Prize for Best First Collection in 2006. Her first novel, The Pleasure Seekers, was shortlisted for The Hindu Best Fiction Award and long listed for the Orange Prize and Dublin IMPAC literary Award. Since 2001 she has worked as a contemporary dancer with the Chandralekha Group in Madras. Her most recent book is a collection of poems, Everything Begins Elsewhere. She divides her time between a village by the sea in Tamil Nadu and elsewhere.
