Dr Hamad Bin Abdulaziz Al-Kawari

Cultural adviser to HH the Emir of Qatar, President of CNUCED XIII, Qatar

Hamad Bin Abdulaziz Al-Kawari is a Qatari statesman, diplomat and intellectual. He is currently cultural adviser to HH Emir of Qatar, and President of UNCTAD XIII.

He is Qatar's candidate to the General Director of UNESCO in 2017.

From 2008 to 2016 he has been Minister of Culture, Arts & Heritage, and previously ambassador of Qatar to France, United States and other European and South American countries. He was also representative of his country at the UNESCO in Paris and at the UN in New-York.

He earned a Master from St-Joseph University in Beirut, and a PhD in political science at Stony Brook University, New-York.

He speaks Arabic, English and French, and published books in Arabic, English and French. His last works are “Global Majlis” HBKU Press (2015), and “Majlis Mondial pour le dialogue des cultures” Odile Jacob (2016).
