Aurélie Filippetti was born on June 17, 1973 in Villerupt (Meurthe-et-Moselle).
Former student of the Ecole Normale Supérieure of Fontenay-Saint-Cloud and holder of an aggregation of Classic Literature, she was appointed Minister of Culture and Communication on May 16, 2012.
Counsellor of the 5th arrondissement of Paris from 2001 to 2007, she started her political career as technical adviser in the staff of the minister of town and country planning and environment Yves Cochet from 2001 to 2002. Deputy of the 8th district of Moselle from 2007 to 2012, she was spokeswoman of the Socialist Party group at the National Assembly from 2007 to 2009, member of the national board and of the national council of the Socialist Party from 2008 and national secretary of the Socialist Party, responsible for the energetic issues from 2009.
Writer, she is the author of several books: Les Derniers jours de la classe ouvrière (2003), Un Homme dans la poche (2007) and co-author of J’ai 20 ans qu’est-ce qui m’attend ? (2010).
