Culture is future » Innovation and digital

Next-up on our online cultural entrepreneur series, the Forum d’Avignon would like to introduce Urbacolors: a social media website dedicated to help the world discover Street Art.

What is your company’s objective?

Urbacolors, is a project on social media dedicated to help the world discover Street Art, born from our passion cities, an open place where artists and art amateurs, photographers and taggers can share with each other. Take a photo, share it, exchange it with your community, learn about an artist. Basically, the best of Facebook and Wikipedia dedicated to Street Art ;)

What challenges do you face in your development?

Urbacolors is a young association gathering passionate individuals, all volunteers, intervening in their free time. Tomorrow, we’d like to structure ourselves as a company and part of its profits will be reintroduced to support street artists. Our challenge is to find forms of financing that will allow the survival of both a company and unusual art projects.

What does it mean to be a cultural entrepreneur?

Today, knowing how to juggle between public subsidies and private partners to realize innovatory projects. It’s knowing how to get ahead of the public’s tastes in order to always surprise, interrogate and will fill with wonder. This implies the need to also protect the work of artists and to refuse working for cheap prices, which is very difficult.
