Next-up on our online cultural entrepreneur series, the Forum d’Avignon would like to introduce: The Best Song, the Tinder for music discovery.
What is your company’s objective?
Our project started based on this observation: it has never been that easy to access music, and there are never been as many artists as today. So, why do we end up listening to the same songs over and over?
The Best Song is Tinder for music discovery. A mobile app which is the easiest way to discover new music while accelerating the discovery of new talented artists.
What challenges do you face in your development?
To launch a cultural start-up is a real challenge from a technological point of view of a the one hand (how to use the best of technology to support a cultural vision, in this instance allow emerging artists to have a chance to be heard), but also from a financial point of view (music market in particular, which is a complicated market for start-ups because it is ultra competitive and less reassuring for investors than FinTech or e-commerce.
What does it mean to be a cultural entrepreneur?
At The Best Song, we believe it means never to forget the primary motivations behind the birth of the idea.
Indeed, one launch a cultural startup often more by passion than for economic reasons. But the start-ups world is pushing more and more to economic efficiency, and you can quickly be encouraged to change your business model to adapt to market needs, until you lost your original vision. This is a mistake that we try to avoid in all our choices.
