Next-up on our online cultural entrepreneur series, the Forum d’Avignon would like to continue: Lecthot, the very first interface that connects authors, readers and publishing houses.
What is your company’s objective?
Lecthot was born in the desire to gather authors, readers and publishing houses – encounters that can be fully organized thanks to digital technology.
The vocation of Lecthot is to give the reader the role of a intermediary between the editor and the author in order to facilitate editorial decision making for manuscripts due for publication or also to optimize promotion for already published books.
What challenges do you face in your development?
The main challenges are the search for talented authors but also for quality readers, passionate about reading and representative of the French reader base, who can widely contribute to the success of a book or a draft that is to become a best-seller.
On the other side, our efforts focus on raising publishing houses’ consciousness, from all horizons, on the importance of placing the reader more upstream on the editorial chain, notably by proposing them a personalized à la carte service.
What does it mean to be a cultural entrepreneur?
The mission of a cultural entrepreneur is defined by his/her contribution in developing the wealth that makes up our history and our heritage.
Lecthot considers its mission to propose editors an evolution – towards respecting traditions that publishing houses perpetuate – loyal and pertinent, via digital technology.
