Next-up on our online cultural entrepreneur series, the Forum d’Avignon would like to introduce: Balibart, an online plateforme selling illustrators’ drawings.
What is your company’s objective?
We are two art lovers who want to bring art into your daily life. We represent a community of hundreds of talented illustrators from all over the world. Our artists have created works for the most well-known brands and newspapers such as The New-York Times, The Washington Post, L’Oréal or Nike. All works created for Balibart are art prints edited on Fine Art paper.
What challenges do you face in your development?
After having succeeded to gather a community of more than 200 talented illustrators, one of the biggest challenge now is to become famous! To reach this objective, we use a lot of social networks and regularly organize funny events: for instance, we recently launched a treasure hunt and a street exhibition in Paris. We also truly believe in pop-up stores since they allow us to be almost everywhere very easily. After having opened a first store in Lille, we are about to open other ones in Lyon, Rouen and London. As a result, our community of art lovers can see our art works for real and it creates a human connection that we consider as essential.
What does it mean to be a cultural entrepreneur?
The reason why we created Balibart is undoubtedly the chance to work with great artists every day and to create a sincere link with them. A link that goes beyond a simple business relationship. And of course this constant wish that pushes us to shift the lines. We are convinced that our artists deserve to be discovered, and that every one of us deserves more than a regular poster at home.
