Many university students contribute to developing the ideas of the Forum d’Avignon - their articles, interviews et perspectives are featured in our publications.

The think-tank wished to complement its network of experts and professionals by involving students and their professors from varied international universities in its work. Around a hundred students were invited each year to the International meetings of the Forum d’Avignon.

All year round, the team of the Forum d’Avignon hold conferences in universities to raise students’ awareness of the issues traversing culture and the economy. Moreover, students regularly write articles for the Forum d’Avignon’s website Culture is Future.

  • Debates at the Université d’Avignon

The Forum d’Avignon organizes, partnering with the University of Avignon and the pays du Vaucluse, a session of debates at the University that gathers numerous participants and more than 300 students.

  • Masterclass by chefs for the students at the école hôtelière

Chefs of international renown, come volontarily to share their passion with the students of the école hôtelière d’Avignon (Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Vaucluse).

 ESSEC

 

The ESSEC Media & Entertainment Chair is a research and teaching chair established from a partnership between ESSEC and Société Générale, Orange group and Les Echos daily newspapers. It brings together ESSEC  professors and sector professionals, whose combined skills form a bridge between the world of research and management education and the media and cultural sectors. Its missions are to train high-potential managers of the future in the sector specificities and the businesses it encompasses, develop research for analyzing sector fundamentals, reflecting on problematic areas and anticipating trends and develop monitoring and observation activities.

University of Bologna

The University of Bologna has a long tradition of research and teaching in many fields. The department of Management is active in teaching business administration, from undergraduate to the PhD level, and doing research. Within the department, a group of scholars share a strong interest in the management of arts organization. The Department collaborates with the School of Economics in offering the GIOCA - Graduate degree in Innovation and Organization of Culture and the Arts.

University of Avignon

 

A partner of the Forum d’Avignon since its launching in 2008, the University of Avignon and Vaucluse is an autonomous French University. A ‘scientific, cultural and professional’ Public Institution, it welcomes more than 7000 students, from Bachelor to Phd, and counts around 15 research centers.

The research activities of the University of Avignon lean on two major scientific axis, constituting its identity fundamentally linked to its history and environment: Agrosciences / Sciences and Culture / Heritage.

The University of Avignon also gathers four training and research units (UFR-ip), an institute of technology (IUT) and a center of computer research and studies (CERI).

School of journalism and communication of Marseille 

Founded in 1982, the School of Journalism and Communication of Marseille, located in the heart of Marseille, is since 1989 an autonomous component of the University of the Mediterranean Aix-Marseille II. Recognized by the National Committee for the Employment of journalists through its specialty Journalism, the School trains in all areas of Communications and Information Technology and delivers Master level University degrees. Its research center contributes to educational innovation and enables the pursuit of doctoral studies. The EJCM aims to meet the needs of the information and knowledge society. The formation offer, initial and ongoing, covers a wide range of skills matching the needs and evolutions of journalism, new media, and communication, related to the development of information technology.

ESC Dijon

Founded in 1889, the group ESC Dijon-Bourgogne is a school of teaching and research which belong to the network of the best French academic institutions specialized in management. Since 1990, the group ESC Dijon Bourgogne put its experience and its networks at the disposal of the fields of culture and creative industries. The MECIC pole (management of the cultural businesses and the creative industries) offers two trainings: the MS MECIC (Management of the cultural businesses and the creative industries), handed out in Paris, and the Master in Business, specialization Culture and creative industries in the program Grande Ecole, in Dijon. This high-level formation is very selective, focuses on the professions of “institutional culture” and adapts to the new challenges of the creative industries. We find the creative industries in many fields: luxury industries, gastronomy, events, online creative services … in a complex world with the multiplication of media and foundations, the future managers of these cultural sectors must have a broader vision.

Ecole hôtelière d’Avignon

Since 1968, the Hotel School of Avignon welcomes young and older students of all levels training them for careers in Hospitality with a key objective: meeting the needs of professionals.
The EHA proposes a choice of 18 vocational programs combining theory and practice, initial training and apprenticeship, from vocational qualifications to professional license. Our Education department also offers a wide range of courses for amateurs as well as experienced professionals who wish to update or enhance their knowledge by taking advantage of our facilities at the cutting edge of technology.
The Hotel School of Avignon has more than 1,000 students, apprentices and students, 70% choosing to be trainees.

Freie Universität Berlin

Freie Universität Berlin is a full-spectrum university, comprising twelve departments and three Central Institutes that together offer more than 150 different academic programs in a broad range of disciplines. It was founded in 1948 by professors and students in the American Sector in Berlin. The idea of founding a free university found widespread support in the international community, including financial support. This outpouring of aid helped pave the way for Freie Universität to become a university with an outstanding international reputation. The principles of freedom and internationality have guided the university’s development ever since.

Freie Universität is one of the eleven universities to have been successful in all three lines of funding in the German government's Excellence Initiative in 2012. The main features of Freie Universität’s research activities include the broad variety of global academic and scientific cooperation arrangements in place as part of alliance projects and networks with other entities active in research, alongside the university’s innovative support concepts for junior scholars and scientists.

The Institute for Communication and Media studies at Freie Universität Berlin is dedicated to the various aspects of human and public communication. Nine divisions of the institute provide theoretical background and empirical knowledge in journalism, organizational communication, media content and effects, communication policy, media economics, media psychology, history of communication, international communication and social science research methods. Students learn about institutions, structures, and processes of communication as well as the media’s political and social function in present and past.

Sciences Po – Ecole de la communication

The digital revolution is perceived as a chance for the communication sector, as it affects the cultural, political, economic and social functioning of our societies. With revolution also comes opportunity. This new era in communication offers an exceptional opportunity for Sciences Po. A reference in the social sciences and communication worlds, Sciences Po is poised as a leading authority on the areas of communication that are particularly affected by these changes. It is from the desire to restructure the way communication is taught (i.e. a new approach that balances academics and professionalism), that the School of Communication was born. Kaos Pilots Aarhus

The Kaospilots is an international school situated in Aarhus Denmark. It provides a three years education programme, equivalent to a bachelor, for students from all over the world. The students are educated in four disciplines: Creative Business Design; Creative Leadership Design; Creative Project Design; Creative Process Design. The students learn how to build a viable business according to their and clients visions and values, they learn how to be leaders, and how to initiate and execute creative and sustainable projects, as well as design and conduct change processes for different clients. The ambitious vision for the Kaospilots is to be the best school for the world by always considering what the world needs and has potential for at any given time, and balancing this with the needs and potential of the individual. The purpose of the KaosPilot School is to create positive societal change through personal growth and enterprise. Université de Genève

Founded in 1559, the University of Geneva is currently the second largest university in Switzerland and is frequently ranked amongst the top 60 universities worldwide. Created in 1999, University of Geneva's Communication Sciences, Media and Journalism Institute underwent significant changes in 2012. Known today as Medi@LAB-Genève, its research focuses on recent developments in the domain of digital media and economics. Medi@LAB-Genève's director, Professor Patrick-Yves Badillo, worked previously at the University of Aix-Marseille and the University of Grenoble. Medi@LAB-Genève runs a two-year Masters' program that prepares students for jobs in the communications sector, in particular for jobs that use new Internet communication technologies. Medi@LAB-Genève works closely with international partners in the city of Geneva, such as the United Nations and the CERN, as well as with research universities and has close partnerships with Columbia University in New York and the University of Paris-Dauphine

INDACO - Politecnico Milan

On the 1st January 2002 the Department of Industrial Design, Arts, Communication and Fashion INDACO was created within the Politecnico di Milano.

INDACO's mission is to promote innovation, development and transfer of design culture and methodologies in the socio-economic system. It represents the main exponent of Politecnico’s design expertise and capability.

INDACO has created a cluster of laboratories suitable both for didactic experimentation and for specialist research. They represent the greatest world center supporting research and didactics in design process.

 

INDACO’s educational objectives:

  • to support the School of Design and other national and international Faculties and Universities in the development of their educational programs;
  • to collaborate (at International and National level) with other Universities and other public and private subjects in order to develop educational initiatives

Università Bocconi

 

Università Bocconi was founded in 1902 and became the first Italian institution of higher education to grant a degree in economics. Today, Bocconi is a research university of international standing in business, economics, finance and law. Its study programs, both in Italian and English, run from Bachelor to PhD level and include courses that bridge the gaps between economics and cultural areas such as fashion, the arts and marketing. For post-experience management education Bocconi started the SDA Bocconi School of Management in 1971, which offers MBA and Specialized Master programs, in addition to Executive Education for companies and institutions.

All year long, the team of the Forum d’Avignon intervenes in universities and increases their awareness on cultural and economic stakes. Students regularly write articles published by the Forum d’Avignon.

Debate at the university of Avignon

The Forum d’Avignon organizes, in partnership with the university of Avignon, a session of debates at the university gathering the attendees of the Forum and more than 500 students and participants.

 Every year, international starred chefs, voluntarily transmit their passion to the students of the hotel school of Avignon (Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vaucluse).
