The N.I.C.E award will recompense an innovative project during the Forum d'Avignon Ruhr

In 2014, 108 creative project makers from 22 nations applied for the N.I.C.E Award, European Innovation Award for Culture, in the amount of EUR 10,000.

Ten projects from five nations, four of which from the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, were nominated by an international jury.

A special award is given to the project WARE MENSCH (human goods) from Munster, dealing with the topic of human trafficking in Germany in an artistic way.

The N.I.C.E. Award will be presented by NRW Minister of Economic Affairs Garrelt Duin on 12th June at the Forum d’Avignon Ruhr 2014 at GOP Variety Theater in Essen.

The projects will be exhibited at City Messehalle Essen from 10th  to 28th June.

The international jury consisting of Pia Areblad (TILLT, Sweden), Charles Landry (Comedia, UK), Prof. Kurt Mehnert (Folkwang University of the Arts, Germany) and Janjaap Ruijssenaars (Universe Architecture, the Netherlands) made a selection of projects with the most innovative spillover effects.

The N.I.C.E. Award is issued by ecce and the European Network for Innovations and Creativity in Europe (N.I.C.E.), which was initiated in 2013. The award in the amount of EUR 10,000 in total is sponsored by the Ministry for Family, Children, Youth, Culture and Sports of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and the cities of Bochum, Dortmund, Essen and Gelsenkirchen.
