Over 150 children with 150 cameras and the photography project "Mach Dir ein Bild"
From Dortmund to Ziniaré. Marie Köhler studies photography at the university of applied sciences in Dortmund, intending to get her master’s degree, but currently, she lives in Burkina Faso for four months. The 32-year old realises the project „Mach Dir ein Bild“ as a stipendiary of the German national academic foundation in the Operndorf Afrika established by Christoph Schlingensief. She takes care of 150 children in a photo workshop – their photos will be shown in an exhibition that, after premiering in Africa, will travel through Germany. In this interview, Marie Köhler talks about her artistic approach towards the project, her everyday life, and how it feels to live together with kids who are complete photo enthusiasts.
