CULTURAL START-UP OF THE WEEK: Vinyl It

Next-up on our online cultural entrepreneur series, the Forum d’Avignon would like to introduce: Vinyl it, an one-off cutting vinyl record service where diggers can create their own vinyl record.

What is your project/idea/start-up?

Vinyl it is an one-off cutting vinyl record service where diggers can create their own vinyl record. They select their favourite tracks, their sleeve and create their sticker. Our goal il to make all the music available on vinyl record. Right owners are paid for their sales on the platforms. Today more than 4000 tracks are available on the platform. Vinyl it also releases thematic Various Artists compilations (Dub, Hip Hop)

What is your current challenge?

Technical issue as we lack of staff on the development of our web platform. It's also difficult to convince some record labels to join us.

For you, what does it mean to be a cultural entrepreneur?

Be schizophrenic as you have to convince both parties. On one side there are the artists and record labels who want to work with passionated people. On the other side, you have to deal with banks and investors and show that you are passionated but not stupid and that  you know that your project has to be efficient.
