Next-up on our online cultural entrepreneur series, the Forum d’Avignon would like to introduce: Photonomie, an app for taking immersive pictures in real time with your mobile.
What is your project/idea/start-up?
Photonomie is the first app for taking immersive pictures in real time with your mobile. It's a new photo sharing format that puts virtual reality into our phones. For the first time, it's possible to capture a moment up to 360 degrees in a few seconds and share it easily. the people who receive it can move into the picture and feel like they were there, on any connected device.
What is your current challenge?
Our greatest challenge is user retention. It's a huge concern for new technologies like 360, which suggest new customer habits. So the number of downloads is only the beginning of the work. Then, you have to keep users with an intuitive experience and a clear value for their daily life. We are going to track a lot of data in the next few weeks to measure and improve this user experience.
For you, what does it mean to be a cultural entrepreneur?
In a broad sense, it could define entrepreneurs who try to be part of a social or artistic transformation. It's a true motivation for us. Not only because of photography, but because of virtual reality. It seems clear now that virtual reality will deeply modify our way of sharing memories, playing video games or travelling.
