The Cultural Start-up Award of the Forum d'Avignon - #PrixStartUpFA

The future is fueled by talent! In order to encourage innovation, the Forum d’Avignon launches the Cultural Start-up Award on the occasion of its 8th International meetings on March 31 and April 1, 2016 at Bordeaux!

Bestowed by a jury chaired by Véronique Morali, CEO of Webedia & Fimalac Développement, the Award will be given at the opening session of the International meetings on March 31 at the Grand-Théâtre of Bordeaux in front of a wide audience of business leaders, artists, and political decision-makers!

The Award

Two Prizes will be given in 2016:

1. Jury Prize: it rewards the most innovative project.

2. Public Prize: among the 5 nominees, it rewards the to the start-up that gathers the largest number of votes on the online platform hosted by the Forum d'Avignon from March 8.

62 applicants!

62 young promising start-ups, registered with the Paris Trade and Companies Register or with the equivalent register abroad since less than 4 years, coming from all the sectors of the cultural field (plastic & graphic arts, book, music, cinema, performing arts, heritage...) responded to the call for applications!

The endowment

Each winner (Jury Prize, Public Prize):

  • will receive an endowment of € 3,500
  • is invited to present its project (3 min pitch) in front of all the participants and medias at the opening session of the Forum d'Avignon @ Bordeaux on March 31 
  • will take part in the official dinner reserved for professionals

Besides, the winner of the Jury Prize will benefit from a two-month intensive acceleration session, either in the autumn of 2016 or in one of the acceleration sessions in 2017, in The Bridge, European Accelerator powered by French Tech Culture national label "Innovative, culture and digital ecosystem" whose partners are Orange, Microsoft, the Capital & Innovation department of Crédit Agricole Alpes-Provence, B2Pweb, and Jocatop.

The Forum d'Avignon will take in charge the winners during the International meetings in Bordeaux on March 31st and April 1st (comprising registration fees equivalent to € 900, transportation from Paris to Bordeaux via the chartered train, accomodation).

The Jury

The jury is chaired by Véronique Morali, CEO of Webedia and Fimalac Développement, and comprises the following key figures of culture and innovative entrepreneurs:

  • Cynthia Fleury, Philosopher and Associate Professor at the American University of Paris
  • Nicolas Gaume, Director of Developer eXperience at Microsoft France and Vice-President of the SNJV
  • Isabelle Ginestet-Naudin, Director of the department for sector-based funds at Bpifrance
  • Agnès Grangé, Regional Officer at La Poste group and Leader of Bordeaux application to the French Tech label,
  • Tony Jazz, Artist and Innovation & Marketing Consultant at TJCM
  • Frédéric Josué, Global Executive Advisor to Havas Media Chairman, Director of
  • Thanh Nghiem, Founder at Angenius Institute
  • Josette D. Normandeau, President & Producer at Idéacom International

  • December 15, 2015: Launch of the call for applications
  • February 15, 2016, midnight: Deadline for application submissions
  • March 8, 2016: Votes open for the Laureate of the « Public Prize » among the 5 shortlisted candidates
  • March 28, 2016: End of votes for the « Public Prize »
  • March 31, 2016: The award ceremony of the The Cultural Start-up Award (Jury Prize, Public Prize) is to take place during the opening sessions of the Forum d’Avignon @Bordeaux
